Mad as a March Hare and Celebrating 20 years continues

Yes! It's the month for the obligatory photo of golden Daffodils.

They are the ultimate flower, blooming exactly when we need them the most. Adding sparkle to the gloooomiest of days.

I love them.

I also love March as it was the month when, back in 2005, I welcomed my very first client into my home for her very first treatment.

Which seamlessly leads into 'my business so far'...

Over the next 12 months I am sharing with you some landmark moments in my business story.

Here is Chapter 3:

A PERMANENT HOME

Last month I told the story of how I began to take my business seriously working hours that fitted around my little babies.

Happily my clientele began to grow but this made life tricky when I had to keep transforming our living room into a treatment room.

It was now time for a permanent, kiddy free space.

Together Paul and I created my first treatment room, transforming a cold, damp room that was used by the previous owners of the house for storage. We managed to create a cozy little room with just enough space for my treatment couch, a trolley for my equipment and a chair for my clients. All at the back of the garage nicely hidden by a lovely curtain made for me by my sister.

The kiddies loved it too!

And here I stayed for 4 years.

I always found it strange how my clients were happy coming to my tiny room just off of my kitchen (made spotless after each dinner time). I suppose as I met most of my clients through having children the majority of my them were at similar stage of life as me. Therefore they benefitted from the late evening hours that I worked and the location that was easy to reach away from the town centre, with nice easy parking.

I was just so lucky to have fallen into running a business that I saw as providing me with the best of both worlds. A job bringing in regular income enabling me to meet wonderful and interesting people plus the ability to structure my work around my little children.

Those 4 years, treating clients in my bijoux room, passed so fast, until the leaking flat roof gave me a sign. It was time to take a big step. Onto treatment space Number 3. Time to extend the mortgage and convert the garage!

And then there was no turning back. My new spacious, light, dedicated treatment room attracted more and more clients and the best thing about it was, I no longer had to tidy any other part of the house except for the hallway! Happy days!
